Additional Support for Google Chrome
Support for Google Chrome continues to expand in Host Analytics. The image below shows the functionality supported on Google Chrome for the July release and the functionality supported as of this August (Q3) 2015 feature release.
For information on each new application area supported on Google Chrome, visit Host Analytics Website.
Support for Google Chrome on the Macintosh Operating System
Host is currently testing and certifying all functionality supported for Google Chrome on the Macintosh Operating System.
Report Collection – POV Functionality
Point of View (POV) is available for Report Collections. POV is a user-specific method of modifying the page level settings to desired dimension members. The modification may be to narrow or widen the scope of the page level settings. POVs are applied to the page level dimensions within the reports that are part of the collection.
Scenario Process Integration with Cloud Scheduler
Scenario Processing is now integrated with Cloud Scheduler so that users can schedule scenario processing, manage, and track the status of individual schedules. This feature is not currently available for Sales and Scorecard Reporting Areas.
Cloud Scheduler Enhancement
Minutes and Hourly options are added to the Repeats list-box so that users can run processes more frequently. Users can opt for 30 or 45 minutes. For hours, users can select up to 23. There is no longer a maximum number of processes run per day. Users can now view Process Flow schedules 5 days out in Job Manager. This applies to schedules that are configured to repeat daily, weekly, and monthly. For schedules that repeat hourly or based on minutes, the jobs are shown in Job Manager as soon as they start running. Every job added to Job Manager is first queued and begins processing based on server availability.
Cloud Scheduler Access
In the past, Cloud Scheduler was available in Navigation Access only if Cloud File Upload/Box integration was enabled. This is no longer the case. Contact Support to enable Cloud Scheduler for your application.
Financial Reporting Area Processing in the Cloud
Quick processing of Financial scenarios can now be performed in the cloud, which means users can continue working while the processing takes place. Once complete, a notification appears and an email is sent. Although users can process a reporting area from 3 interfaces in Host Analytics (the Scenario Process button in the ribbon, the Cube Status page, and the Dimension Status page), cloud processing is only enabled for the Scenario Process button in the ribbon.
Data Seeding Preloaded Budget Enhancement
Set common currency data calculation preferences for preloaded scenarios eliminating the need to run the currency conversion process. With this option, all selected scenarios and period data is seeded from the selected source scenarios and posted directly in the application’s common currency to the Common Currency reporting member.
File Cabinet Security
Host has enhanced File Cabinet security by restricting the file types that can be uploaded. The following file types can no longer be loaded to the File Cabinet: .mpp, .zip, .rar, .gtar, .gz, .tar, .ace. Users can download existing files with these file types; however, new files cannot be uploaded.
The following types of documents are supported: .gif, .png, .jpeg, .jpg, .bmp, .tif, .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .ppt, .pptx, .txt, .pdf, .csv, .vsd.
Processing of Dynamic Journals and Reclassifications in the Cloud
Post and clear Dynamic Journals and Reclassifications in the cloud so that users can continue working while processing takes place. Once complete, users will be notified via email as well as an in-application notification. Access Dynamic Journals and Reclassifications in the Consolidation Control Panel.
Dynamic Journals and Partial Ownership Rules Rule Enhancement
Host has enhanced Rule functionality in the Consolidation application. Now, users can define a formula to access data from a previous financial year, access data for two periods prior to the period for which the Dynamic Journal is being processed, or access data from a scenario other than the scenario for which the formula is being processed.
Improved Box– Cloud File Upload Integration
In August of 2014, Host provided functionality to integrate Box with Cloud Scheduler – Data Load Rule functionality, which meant that users could place a file on Box and schedule a data load rule in Host Analytics to load the file. The application programming interface (API) used for this integration was limiting. With this release, users can authorize Host Analytics and Box to automatically migrate data to a new API, which provides additional functionality such as:
- Ability to have different email addresses with any domain name. Now, all formats of personal and enterprise domains with multiple extensions can be used in email IDs. However, users must still register their email ID with Box by becoming a valid user prior to configuration in Host Analytics.
- Ability to edit a username for Cloud File Upload even after data load rules are created. When user’s username/email ID is modified, the data load rule folders are automatically migrated to the new Box email ID. The files will not be migrated from the old email ID to new email ID. Migration to the new API is automatic after users manually authorize Box from the Host Analytics Configuration Tasks page. Users can continue to work on the old API without issue if users do not migrate to the new one. After migration, there is no impact to data load rules, Cloud Scheduler.
Consolidation Status Report
The Consolidation Status Report has been made an opt-in feature to improve performance when processing consolidations. Contact Support if users want this feature enabled in their application.
Data Load Rules Integration with Job Manager
All Data Load Rule requests submitted will now appear in Job Manager, allowing users to track and monitor the progress. Access Job Manager by navigating to Maintenance, Administration, Cloud Scheduler and clicking the Job Manager tab.
Template Performance Improvements
To improve template open and save performance, Host has enabled saving of modified template data only, instead of all template data, for Global Template – Single Copy, Global Template – Entity Copy, Allocation and Line item templates. In addition to open and save performance, template audit details such as modified date, time, and user name information is captured and updated based upon the modified line data (including sublines and attribute data). Note that template line note changes are not captured as part of the template line level audit when the template is saved.
Workforce Planning Performance Improvements
Host has improved performance for the Employee Add and Edit pages as well as employee save. To improve performance for Employee Add / Edit functionality, Host introduced a progressive loading feature. Now, the Position Info. tab information is displayed while the system retrieves compensation and allocation detail. All employee data must be loaded to perform the following:
- Add/Delete Employee Position
- Save Employee Data
- Change the Hire Date, Position Start, Position End Date, Position Location, and Employee type detail of an employee position
Employee Save performance has been improved with the introduction of Reload functionality for the employee Add / Edit pages, which clears irrelevant data.
New Approval Role Setup and Scenario Access APIs
New APIs (application programming interface) automate approval role setup and scenario access for budget users eliminating the need to select approval role options and provide access to scenarios on an individual budget user basis.
Approval Role Setup functionality allows users to define varying levels of user responsibility for budget entities. For example, when a user has access to two entities (A and B), but has HR responsibility for entity B only, the user can be restricted to only view specific data based on HR access for the approval role assigned for the entity. Assigning different approval roles for different entities provides a user with different levels of privileges. For example, an Admin role might provide ‘HR’ template access, but an ‘Admin with no HR’ role, might not have ‘HR’ (Workforce Planning) template access.
